Artisans helps individuals with disabilities reach employment and career goals by providing employment readiness, job placement and job retention supports. To help our clients better reach their employment and personal goals, we have developed a mentoring program in which volunteers are partnered with an Artisans' client. Mentor meetings/activities are always supported by Artisans staff. Activities are individualized based on the mentee's goals, interests and needs. Client goals may be focused on building soft-skills such as improving communication or social skills or may be task oriented such as improving money handling skills or typing skills to be qualified for a desired employment position. The program also integrates group social outings with other volunteers to create opportunities for the students and mentees to form and build relationships over the course of the semester.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and must pass a background check.
