Who We Are

Dear Volunteers,
We are excited to invite you to be a part of the Gonzaga ESL Community Outreach (GECO) program this Fall 2025! GECO offers free English classes for adult immigrant and refugee students every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gonzaga University.

What We Do

  • Program Dates: September 13 – November 15, 2025
  • Class Schedule: Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (noon)
  • Location: Room 114, Rosauer Center, 714 E Boone Ave, Spokane, WA 99258

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in teaching, gaining hands-on classroom experience, and making a meaningful impact in our community. Whether you are looking to practice your teaching skills or simply want to support English learners, we welcome you to join our team!

What Do Volunteers Do in GECO?

As a volunteer, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment for our students. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing and leading a short warm-up activity (15-20 minutes) to engage students at the beginning of class
  • Helping students with speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities
  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and group discussions
  • Encouraging and supporting students as they practice English
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning space
