Volunteer: Green Corps Spokane Members and Crew Leaders

Program Description: Green Corps Spokane is community-based environmental stewardship program engaging citizens to act for the common good, improving local ecosystems, social networks, and community well-being through restoration, revitalization, and beatification of public parks, open space, and natural areas.

Position Description: Volunteers will lead and/or assist with the cleaning, greening, and restoration of public lands in the City of Spokane and Spokane County.   Examples of activities volunteers may be engaged in: removing weeds and other invasive vegetation, native plant restoration, mulching with wood chips, sheet mulching, new tree planting, minor pruning, watering, forest health and fire mitigation, and some interaction with the public. Green Corps events and work sites will be determined by the agency partners. Partnering agencies will assign staff mentors to train and supervise the volunteers.

General Requirements: Ability to work under physically-demanding conditions, including cold, hot, and wet weather. Desire to learn and implement best management practices. Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with agency staff, other volunteers, and community members. Attend at least three training and/or projects events per year.   Must be 16 years or older.

Compensation: Connecting people and places through outreach, education, and hands-on enrichment of conservation lands and green spaces. Learning best management practices. Meeting community service requirements for your school, business, or organization. Making new friends. Exercise will be unavoidable.
