Kitchen Volunteers help prepare snacks and meals for children, volunteers, and staff.  Snacks and meals may serve up to 24 children and adults.  Kitchen Volunteers follow a set menu but are allowed flexibility and creativity as they become more comfortable in their position.  *4-hour weekly shifts, mornings or afternoons.

Volunteer: Children's Waiting Room - Childcare Volunteer

Play with Children ages birth to age 12 while parents or guardians attend to court business on the Spokane County Courthouse Campus.  Childcare Volunteers get to be silly, share hugs and words of encouragement, and have fun!  This site is perfect for students because it tends not to be a busy as our main location, so students will probably have time to do homework.  *Regular shift required:  Thursdays, 1pm-5pm, or Fridays, 8am-1pm OR 1pm-5pm.  Must be at least 18 years old.

Position Description

A Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery volunteer augments the staff/child ratio by participating in childcare and daily routine activities under the direction of the staff.

 

 

 Examples of Duties

Assist staff by interacting with children during indoor/outdoor activities. Assist staff in daily activities including serving meals and clean-up, organizing the playroom and other activity areas, helping with laundry, and assisting with nap or bedtimes.

 

 

Requirements Must be 16 years of age or older Commit to one 3 hour shift a week for the duration of your semester, or longer Successfully pass screening process – this includes an interview, reference checks, and 1 background check Obtain a current Washington State Food Workers Card – info provided at interview Have a current Tuberculosis (TB) test – info provided at interview Have current TDaP booster (good for 10 years) Obtain a yearly flu shot Be willing and able to follow the guidance of staff and maintain strict confidentiality Have the physical ability to safely interact with active children (birth through 6 years of age)
