Who We Are
R.I.S.E. Northwest, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to support grieving children and teens after they experienced the death of a parent.
Our name, R.I.S.E. Northwest, embodies our core belief - Resilience is Strength & Endurance. It's more than just an acronym; it’s our philosophy. We aim to help the young members of our community find the strength and endurance to rise above the pain of loss, empowering them with resilience for a brighter tomorrow.
What We Do
We pledge to provide free services through mentoring and peer groups to support grieving children navigate their lives, in childhood and beyond. Our services include:
Camp Cope: Spanning 16 weeks with bi-weekly meetings, Camp Cope is meticulously designed to foster connections, build resilience, and instill healthy coping skills. Under the guidance of trained facilitators, participants engage in structured peer groups, embarking on a journey to voice multifaceted emotions synonymous with grief. Each session is themed, with objectives meticulously curated by a dedicated team of Child Life Specialists. From recreation to art, expression, and communication, the goal is to mitigate feelings of isolation while boosting self-confidence and resilience.
Sessions meet every other Monday for 16 weeks at Summit U, 1003 E. Trent Ave. Spokane from 6:30-7:30pm.
Team RISE: Functioning as a bi-weekly endeavor, Team RISE pairs grieving children and teenagers with compassionate mentors. We firmly believe in the power of mentoring and peer support as pivotal first steps on a lifelong journey of grief. Our committed volunteer mentors partake in both recreational and educational pursuits with the youngsters, aiming to not only establish long-term relationships but also to nurture the seeds of resilience and strength.
Sessions meet every other Monday 6:30-7:30pm at St. Thomas More and St. Mary.
