Who We Are

KYRS-Thin Air Community Radio fills needs that other media do not, providing programming to diverse communities and unserved or underserved groups. Thin Air Radio provides a forum for neglected perspectives and discussions on important local, national and global issues, reflecting values of social, economic and environmental justice, peace, human rights, democracy, multiculturalism, freedom of expression and social change. Since 2003, KYRS has produced local programs by and for youth, women, people of color, and other marginalized populations. KYRS has won many awards including #2 Best Radio Station in the Inlander’s Reader’s Poll three years in a row, the 2012 EPA Clean Air Excellence Award for our Native American radio program, the Spokane Arts Commission Bold Strokes Award in 2009, several Pride Rainbow Awards, and several Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media awards, among others.

What We Do

KYRS is a non-profit, non-commercial community radio station in Spokane, serving the Inland Northwest with news, views, culture and music often overlooked by other media.
