Spokane Public Schools - AVID

The mission of the AVID College Readiness System is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. The AVID tutor mentors by developing the academic and personal strengths of AVID students. The AVID tutor will become a master of each stage of the AVID tutorial, the inquiry learning process, and the AVID strategies (WICOR: writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading).

Spokane Public Schools is looking for college students to support the AVID program by facilitating the tutorial learning process and AVID methodologies. Training will be provided and required. We are looking for role models who adhere to professional standards such as arriving on time and prepared, long-term commitment (a full semester or the whole school year), and are willing to learn about AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination.
