Who We Are
Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We are driven by the belief that every human has unique potential to contribute to society, but the opportunity to discover and realize this potential is more difficult for some than others. Through mentoring, we help kids discover their potential. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest has served more than 10,000 kids since our inception in Spokane, in 1965.
What We Do
We recruit, screen and train adult volunteer mentors and pair our mentors with kids between the ages of 7-12 years who are ready to be matched. As part of our process, we compile information on backgrounds, life experiences, passions, and interests - for both mentors and mentees - and make deliberate matches based on compatibility. Our staff are dedicated not only to training before the relationship begins, but also to providing ongoing support to mentors during the relationship to bolster long-term success of matches.
