Holmes Elementary launched its Walking School Bus in fall 2014. The Safe Routes to School Team is dedicated to program sustainability and is currently managing the 8th semester of the Walking School Bus. Reach out to Sophia for more information.
The Walking School Bus is part of Safe Routes to School Spokane, a program that kicked off in 2014.
Local elementary schools partner with community organizations to promote safe walking and biking programs. Walking with students in local neighborhoods, a simple act with far reaching benefits, makes an impact because of matured social connections, safety perceptions, and increased school attendance.
