Our volunteers befriend hospice patients who have a terminal diagnosis. Our goal is to serve you as you serve your patient. These unique friendships bring grace and peace to a person at this place in life. Students often read to a patient, visit, play a game, take their new friend for a walk in their wheel chair, help with light housekeeping, share music or a hobby. Requirements to volunteer with Horizon Hospice: Ideally students serve for the entire school year, not just one semester. Students make a consistent commitment each week. Students may partner with another volunteer to support each other and give flexibility when an exam or need prevents their weekly visit. Students will need to attend training and this can be completed online or in person. We require background checks, driving record checks and TB tests (we pay for all of these items).
